A sub-committee of the Joint Apprentice Training Committee working to reinstate the state certified apprenticeships for both the PG&E Gas Control Technician and Transmission Mechanic positions has finalized plans to migrate the individuals involved into their respective apprenticeships soon.
The impacted employees will each be visited by members of the JATC who will explain how the plan will affect them individually. This action will finally bring to term the skill block program which included no automatic progression and allowed some employees to remain at a static level in their training for many years.
Additionally, the committee has developed comprehensive Administrative Procedures Manuals for both apprenticeships which will enable each apprentice to easily understand the program expectations and progression requirements.
The JATC continues to be involved in updating training programs for a variety of classifications.
