Business Manager
Tom Dalzell filed a grievance against Pacific Gas & Electric on Jan. 28
over the company’s failure to pay employees in a timely and accurate manner.
The grievance
stems from numerous complaints by Local 1245 members that their paychecks have
been wrong or not timely. In some cases employees allege non-receipt of a
correct paycheck for the last 12 months.
The union
contends that the company’s actions are in violation of the collective
bargaining agreement and the law.
“We have had many
discussions with the company about this problem over the past several months, and
we realize that the company has experienced problems with new technology,” said
Dalzell. “But providing correct wages to employees in a timely and legal manner
is a fundamental responsibility of any company. The time has come for PG&E
to find a way to live up to its responsibilities.”
As a remedy, the grievance asks that PG&E “Immediately retroactively provide all affected employees all money owed” and “immediately start paying employees correctly and on time as provided for in the Agreement.”
