NV ENERGY BARGAINING: MAJOR ISSUES REMAIN ON TABLE

An Update from the IBEW Local 1245 Bargaining Committee

IBEW Local 1245 and NV Energy continue to bargain at least two and, most weeks, three days per week. To date we have met with the company at the table approximately 38 days.

We have tentatively agreed to approximately 23 modifications of the collective bargaining agreement.

Recently the company withdrew all outstanding proposals with the exception of what they are calling their “nine essential items”. These include:

Title 2.2 (Proposed) - Right to promulgate reasonable rules

Title 4 - Wages

Title 6 - Flexibility regarding work schedules

Title 19.4 - Agreement on benefits company provides

Title 22 - Benefits including Cash Balance

Title 23 - Effective demotion/layoff language

Title 24.1 - Evergreen language on contract duration

Tracy/Ft. Churchill subcommittee

Two new positions and one position revision in Generation

Union proposals remaining “on the table” include:

Title 4 - Attachment I Exhibit A(1) - Wages and STIP

Attachment I Exhibit A(1) - Shift premium

Title 22 - Retirement

Title 22 - Post Retirement Medical

Title 11 - Holidays

Title 15 - Family sick leave

Job descriptions and lines of progression

Two sub committees AMI, Apprenticeship

Although these lists have been reduced in size in recent days the biggest issues remain.  We expect an economic proposal from the Company in the near future. This should include wages, STIP, shift premium and related items. The Company has described their wage proposal as “market based” from the beginning.
