PG&E Contract Section Index

When a grievance is resolved at the upper levels of the grievance procedure, it sets a precedent for future interpretations of the PG&E contract. Shop stewards can use these precedent-setting decisions to defend members' rights when similar issues arise.

Precedent-setting documents include Pre-Review Committee (PRC), Review Committee (RC) and Arbitration (Arb) decisions. Union members' rights can also be spelled out in Letter Agreements (LA) or other official correspondence between the company and union. Virtually all such precedent-setting documents, going back to 1951, can now be found in alphabetical order in Local 1245's on-line PG&E Contract Library.

But how do you figure out which documents you need? The PG&E Contract Section Index (below) is the way to locate documents in the PG&E Contract Library that may be relevant to your current problem or issue. Find the section(s) of the Physical or Clerical agreement that are relevant to your issue. When you click on the icon, you will be taken to a particular page in the Contract Section Index that lists all known decisions and agreements pertaining to that contract section. You will find very brief descriptions of each decision/agreement, along with live links to the documents themselves. This will enable you to call up and print a copy of any document you believe is relevant to your current or potential grievance.

You can also make a more generalized search of our PG&E Contract Library by entering a search term or phrase in the search box above, which is powered by Google. You may want to try this approach if you have an issue in the workplace but can't figure out which section of the contract is relevant to your issue. Please note: Until Google locates and assimilates all the new documents in our PG&E Contract Library, the search button above won't perform very well. By late spring 2011 its performance should greatly improve.
